Self-help is a journey of personal growth and empowerment, wherein individuals actively engage in strategies and practices aimed at improving various aspects of their lives. It encompasses a wide range of techniques, from mindfulness and goal-setting to assertiveness training and problem-solving skills development. At its core, self-help encourages individuals to take responsibility for their own well-being, fostering a sense of autonomy and self-reliance. By cultivating self-awareness, resilience, and positive habits, individuals can navigate life’s challenges more effectively and unlock their full potential for fulfillment and success.
The NHS Digital Weight Management Programme is available via self-referral for NHS staff. Last Year over 12,500 NHS colleagues took up the free 12 week programme, which offers online weight management services for those with a 30+ BMI. This is lowered to 27.5 for people with a ethnic background, as we know people from these backgrounds have an increased risk of conditions such as Type 2 diabetes at a lower BMI.
